2012 Santander Master's Scholarships Requirements


Eligibility Criteria This award is open to all students who have made an application for admission to study for a full time Master's course at Imperial College, starting in October 2012.
Value of Award This award offers a minimum of £5,000 contribution towards Tuition Fees. Once a student's fees have been paid, any balance remaining will be paid directly into the student's personal UK bank account. There are a minimum of six awards available for 2012-13.
How to apply All students who meet the "Eligibility Criteria" listed above will be sent an email to let them know that they will be considered for this award unless they send an email to scholarships@imperial.ac.uk letting us know that they do not wish to be.
Selection Process Those who have applied for this award will first be assessed by their prospective departments. Departments are asked to submit their nomination and provide a statement indicating why they wish to support that scholarship application. Only students who have received an offer of admission can be put forward by their departments. Students who have been nominated are then ranked by a panel of senior academics and they will make the final selection. These scholarships will be awarded to those students who have been ranked the highest based on academic merit and potential. Student's admission application forms and references provided will be used to assess this.
Outcome of awards We will let students know whether they have been nominated by their department in June 2012. For those who have been nominated we will let them know the outcome of their application by no later than July 2012.

UNSW offers the following scholarships to international research candidates of exceptional research potential to undertake a higher degree by research:
Note: only one application is required for the UNSW International Research Scholarships, applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.
  • International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)
  • University International Postgraduate Award (UIPA)
  • Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS) plus a Faculty Research Stipend

Note: Tuition Fee Scholarships are available for PhD, Masters by Research and Master of Philosophy (in selected disciplines depending on Faculty research areas). This scholarship is only available to candidates who are sponsored by their home country with a living allowance/stipend with a minimum value of $10, 000 per annum.

Fulbright-Cardiff University Award

Each year, one award is offered to a US citizen to pursue a one-year Master’s degree programme (or the first year of a longer Master’s or PhD programme) in any subject at Cardiff University. The successful candidate will be selected by the Fulbright Commission and the Institute of International Education (IIE).

Award Benefits

In addition to a full tuition fee waiver from Cardiff University the awardee will receive £10,000, which is intended as a contribution towards general maintenance costs (accommodation, travel, subsistence, etc) while in the UK. This will be paid in instalments directly to the grantee upon arrival in the UK. Limited sickness and accident benefit coverage (typically not needed with free access to the NHS) is also provided.
All grantees in the UK attend a 3-day orientation program on arrival in September, a 5-day Fulbright Forum in January and a farewell event, the Fulbright 'End-cap'. The Commission has arranged a number of memberships for grantees during their stay and will assign a British alumna/us as a mentor.

Selection Criteria

Minimum eligibility for this award category:
  • US citizen (resident anywhere but the UK)
  • Rigor in scholarly enquiry and academic or professional excellence
  • Strong reasons for wishing to pursue the proposed project in the UK
  • Interest in the peoples and cultures of the UK
  • Clear set of objectives for the Fulbright year
  • Commitment to the host community through volunteer and extra-curricular activity.
Candidates need not be recent graduates, and financial need is not a factor in the selection process. The program seeks the widest possible variety of fields and career goals among applicants, including the arts and professional studies in addition to traditional academic disciplines. Preference will be given to those who do not have extensive experience in the UK.

In making these awards the Commission is looking not only for academic excellence but a focused application, a range of extracurricular and community activities, demonstrated ambassadorial skills, a desire to further the Fulbright Programme and a plan to work for the betterment of the home and host countries both during and after studies.

Each Commission sets its own policies and procedures with country-specific information for making an application for a Fulbright Award in their country. You will be able to log in and out of your application account and will not be required to complete the application in one sitting.

The scholarship shall be awarded by the selection panel on
the basis of a combination of academic merit, leadership

representative from Sommerman Skinner Associates Pty Ltd.
The scholarship is tenable for one year subject to satisfactory
academic progress deemed to be a high credit average each
semester. Payments will be made in two instalments after the
Census date 31 March and 31 August of each semester.

Australian National University International Undergraduate Scholarship

  • International students who have recently completed secondary school studies off-shore (not in Australia). You must not have commenced further studies.

  • 2012/2013 Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) scholarship program

     The Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) scholarship program is now accepting international students to apply for the above educational aid. Dallas Theological Seminary scholarship program is given to deserving recipients on a yearly basis. This is a need-based scholarship, so applicants are required to honestly disclose their present status—of course, this scholarship 2012 is intended for students who have plans to pursue the tough path of theological study. Deadlines for scholarship application for the fall semester will be on February 28, 2012 and for the spring semester will be on September 30, 2012. Scholarship eligibility:
    • Must be currently in a degree program with 12 credit hours for every semester
    • Must be currently employed
    • Must have and keep a 2.5 and above GPA
    • Must be current with all financial expenses programs inside the seminary
    Students can apply for the religion scholarship only if he already have applied and been approved for Admission to the seminary. Only after then he can gain access to the Financial Aid Application. Students who wish to get the financial assistance must plan their admission procedure properly.
    Forms must be filed on April 1, 2012 or within 30 days after the admission notification is received. Financial aid that will be awarded after May 1 will be based on the remaining funds.

    2012/2013 Quota Scholarship Scheme

    Scholarship description The Norwegian Government offer scholarship funds for the Quota Scholarship scheme for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD Students from developing countries at universities and university colleges in Norway 2012

        Students usually apply for degree programmes that serve as a continuation of their studies in their home country or for courses which can be a joint part of a degree programme in their home country (joint degree or sandwich programmes). Most of the programmes offered are at Master’s or PhD level, but the Quota Scheme also offers certain Bachelor’s study programme
         The main objective of the Quota Scheme is to contribute to capacity building through education that will benefit the home country of the students when they return. The Scheme is also intended to strengthen relations between Norway and the selected countries and thus contribute to internationalization at Norwegian institutions of higher education. Most universities and university colleges in Norway participate in the Quota scheme. The institutions involved are allocated a certain number of students under the programme each year. Most of the programmes offered are at Master’s or PhD level, but the Quota Scheme also offers certain Bachelor’s study programme

    Requirements:
    All candidates should typically have the following basic qualifications:
    • Secondary school certificates
    • Minimum two years of higher education from their home country
    • Some exceptions apply for certain professional educational courses at Bachelor’s level.
    • If you wish to participate in the Norwegian Government Quota Scholarship Scheme, you must apply directly from your home country.
    • You must have stayed at least one year in your home country directly prior to the planned course of study at the Norwegian university /University College.
    • To be eligible to apply for the Quota Scheme, you must be able to find your home country on the list below.
    How Many Scholarship Positions are available?
    The Quota Scheme currently provides funding for a total of 1,100 students, 800 of them from developing countries in the South and 300 from countries in the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and in Central Asia.
